HUD Section 184 Upfront Loan Guarantee Fee Update

Newrez LLC “Newrez” Approved Correspondent Clients, please note, effective October 1, 2026, HUD has announced an increase in the upfront loan guarantee fee for the Section 184 Indian Housing Loan Guarantee Program.
 
The upfront loan guarantee fee will increase from 1.00% to 1.5% and will apply to all Section 184 program loans receiving a Section 184 firm commitment with a cohort number on and after October 1, 2026.

Reminder:
As communicated in Bulletin 2026-084 HUD 184 - Fiscal Year 2027 Notice, HUD has temporarily suspended the issuance of Section 184 cohort numbers until the system reopens for fiscal year 2027.
